Summary of Amigo Brothers

Amigo Brothers Summary – When two best friends are forced to fight each other in a boxing match, their brotherhood is threatened. Only one man can win the match, so who will it be?

Tony and Felix

Antonio Cruz, 17 years old, affectionately known as Tony, and Felix Vargas were so close in friendship that they thought they were brothers. They had known each other since childhood, growing up in the same building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Each aspired to one day be the world’s light-weight champion. Antonio and Felix ate, slept, rapped, and expressed optimism.

After a series of elimination bouts, they were informed that they would face off in the division finals on August 7th, with the winner representing the Boys’ Club in the Golden Gloves Championship Tournament. Along East River Drive, the two boys kept running together. Even as they were joking around, they could feel a distance between them. Both were hesitant to fight each other because they were concerned about hurting the other. The two agreed that they would fight fair and square, and that the best man in the ring would win with no ill will.

The Champion

The fight was supposed to occur in Tompkins Square Park. Tompkins Square was bustling with activity the morning of the fight. The crowd erupted in applause as the two entered the ring. Antonio and Felix bowed graciously before raising their arms in recognition. Felix and Antonio fought vigorously in rounds one and two.

The scores were even until the third round, which determined the winner. The sound of their strikes was deafening in comparison to the terrifying silence of a crowd that had gone completely silent. Felix and Antonio rained down blows like hailstones on each other. Finally, the referee and two trainers managed to separate them. They took a quick glance around before sprinting towards one another.

As the two friends hugged, the terror was quickly replaced by waves of cheers. Whatever the decision, they knew they’d always be champions for one another. When the announcer turned to declare the winner, he was alone.

Conclusion

True friendship transcends all boundaries and triumphs over hostility and competition.
