Gurjeet Chuhan is a 15-year-old Grade 10 student at Maples Collegiate who loves sports. He enjoys playing basketball and badminton, but his favourite sport is very clear to him

“Soccer for sure is my favourite sport. I play it whenever I get the chance,” he said. “I typically play on the backline as a defender. I enjoy the thrill the game gives me and the pleasure of working with a group of teammates. My team aren’t just people I play with, they are my brothers and I like each and every one of them.”

Gurjeet lives in north Winnipeg with his dad Amrik, mom Baljeet, and brother Ranjeet.

Gurjeet Chuhan absolutely loves playing soccer for FC Northwest.

“If I could say something about my parents I would say thank you to them. Nothing would be possible without them and their support. All they have done for me with their support, love, care, and paying for all of my wishes,” he said “My parents are the best and most caring people. I am very grateful for my brother as well. He is my best friend.”

In keeping with his love of sport, Gurjeet’s favourite class at school is no surprise.

“School is going exceptionally well,” he said. “My favourite class has to be physical education. I really enjoy being active and, of course, there is a lot of physical demand in gym class.”

Gurjeet plays for a few teams including the U16 team at FC Northwest. When Gurjeet has some spare tim,e chances are you are going to see him on the pitch somewhere.

“My dream is to continue to strive to play at a higher level and one day play professionally,” he said.

Gurjeet is very smart and a great teammate who helps everyone around him work harder.

He has this to offer to young athletes:

“Keep pushing and give it your all. If you give your best and give full effort there is no way you can fail.”
