The Brief

A rain storm is moving into the central and northern coast today, but come tomorrow we'll see steady and moderate rain in Southern California.

A cooling trend will lower our daytime highs to the 60s across the Southland. The beaches will experience patchy fog conditions until mid morning and afternoon highs will stay in the low 60s. More inland, expect highs in the upper 60s, with the valleys and Inland Empire reaching up to 68 degrees.

High desert temps will reach 66 degrees, 81 degrees in Coachella Valley.
It's going to be windy in the deserts starting this afternoon through Friday evening. Wind gusts will reach up to 55 mph.

Ventura County beaches will see high surf this afternoon until 3 p.m. Friday, with large breaking waves up to 7 feet along the coasts.

About the incoming storm

Forecasters say the heavier and steady rain will come Friday, followed by showers Saturday and Sunday. We have a more detailed forecast here.
