The Fortnite live event could be happening later today according to a prominent Fortnite leaker, who claims things could be kicking off in a matter of hours.

Update: The Fortnite live event didn't end up happening yesterday after all. However, some cracks around where the Titan Hand is supposed to spawn have begun heating up, leading us to believe the Fortnite live event is still happening, and could possibly kick off on Saturday, March 2.

Original story: Rumours of an upcoming Fortnite live event have been swirling around the internet recently, with all the big names in the Fortnite leaker scene seemingly confirming one will be coming sooner rather than later; Epic Games is reportedly set to drop the event today rather than next week, when the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 start date arrives.

The Fortnite live event features a giant Titan Hand emerging from the ground and holding onto Pandora's Box – which sets up Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 and its Greek mythology-inspired theme. We figured the event would be happening as the current season comdes to a close next week – like we saw with The Big Bang live event back in December. But according to prominent leakers in the community, the Fortnite live event is happening within the hour!

Fortnite leaker @HYPEX posted on Twitter saying that the Fortnite live event featuring the Titan Hand is set to take place at 4pm GMT / 11am EST / 8am PST, adding that this is when the last Earthquake is supposed to arrive, so it makes sense for the hand to arrive alongside it. This claim was also backed up by another major Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR who posted a Tweet with the same info. However, @HYPEX later posted that their info could be an hour off and that the event may kick off at 5pm GMT / 12pm EST / 9am PST. We'll know for sure within the next hour.

How to join the Fortnite live event

From the sounds of things, the Fortnite live event will take place on the regular battle royale map, and the Titan Hand is expected to emerge in the area surrounding Ruined Reels. It's unknown if the hand will spawn the chest right away but it's better to be safe than sorry, so you'll want to head straight for Ruined Reels at 4pm GMT / 11am EST / 8am PST.

As for how long the Fortnite live event will last for, that's unconfirmed for now. If we had to guess we would assume the Titan Hand will remain a part of the Fortnite Battle Royale and Zero Build maps until Chapter 5 Season 1 comes to an end on Friday, March 8 at 7am GMT / 2am EST and on Thursday, March 7 at 11pm PST. However, we're likely to hear word from Epic Games after the hand arrives on the map, so we'll know more then.
