The budget also included funding for PEPFAR, the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, an international HIV-prevention plan that has been credited with saving over 25 million lives since it began in 2003.

Bridget Ziegler is suing police and prosecutors in Sarasota, Florida to stop them from releasing investigation records related to rape allegations against her husband.
Her husband, a prominent Republican activist in the state, was accused of sexually assaulting a woman who both of the Zieglers had previously had sex with.
The records includes her husband's phone, which may contain videos of their encounters.

Earlier this month, the Associated Press reported on a 2008 online dating profile seeking “1-on-1” sexual encounters with “young guys” that was set up on the Adult Friend Finder website using a work email belonging to Ohio Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno. The AP confirmed that whoever set up the profile would have had to be able to access Moreno’s work email account.

Musk answered calls to censor any accounts that named Hans Kristian Graebener – believed to be the face behind an anonymous right-wing cartoonist who uses the name Stonetoss on social media and spreads racist, antisemitic, and anti-LGBTQ+ content. Trans activists called out Musk for protecting a Nazi while allowing transphobia to run rampant on the site.

Forced outing of trans students to their parents
Madison Miner and Rick Ledesma, the former board president, both lost recall elections that were directly tied to their culture war priorities and opposition to LGBTQ+ rights. The school board passed a measure last year that required school staff to notify parents of “any request by the student to use a name that differs from their legal name” or to use pronouns different from those on their original school records. Miner and Ledesma both led the effort.

The Alabama House of Representatives advanced a bill this week that would expand the state’s Don’t Say Gay law and ban Pride flags from classrooms.
Alabama public school teachers are already prohibited from leading discussions on LGBTQ+ identities through fifth grade. The new legislation, H.B. 130, would extend that restriction through 12th grade. State Rep. Anthony Daniels (D), the House minority leader, likened the bill to “bullying.”
