A 61-year-old Gilead man died Sunday after a rollover crash near Fairbury, Nebraska, according to a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office press release.
Jefferson County 911 received a report of a one-vehicle rollover crash near the 56500 block of U.S. Highway 136 near Fairbury in southeast Nebraska around 10:30 p.m. Sunday
Deputies discovered that Joseph Hergott's Toyota Tacoma had rolled into a ditch on the south side of U.S. 136. He was the only person inside, the Sheriff's Office said.
The initial investigation determined that Hergott was traveling west on U.S. 136 when he crossed the eastbound lane and rolled into the ditch. The truck crashed into an embankment, which caused the vehicle to roll, officials say.
First responders transported Hergott to a Jefferson County hospital, where he died of his injuries.
