CHICAGO — A group of men and one teenager are all facing a slew of felony charges in connection with an armed robbery that allegedly unfolded on the city’s West Side on Sunday morning. 

According to Chicago police, the 20-year-old Jaquan Martin, 19-year-old Omari Gunn, 18-year-old Renard McGee, 18-year-old Lawrence Norwood and an unidentified 17-year-old are each facing the following felony charges: 

  • One count of armed robbery.
  • Two counts of unlawful use of a machine gun or automatic weapon. 
  • One count of possession of a stolen vehicle.
  • One count of possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number.
  • One count of unlawful use of a weapon possess/carry/conceal weapon.

Officers say the charges stem from a robbery that allegedly unfolded in Humboldt Park less than an hour before their arrest on Sunday. 

According to the police, just before 7:30 a.m., the group held a 27-year-old man at gunpoint in the 500 block of North Harding Avenue before stealing his belongings. 

Officers quickly caught up with the suspects in the 5000 block of West Quincy Street and all five were taken into custody only 30 minutes after the alleged robbery. 

All five appeared in court on Monday for a detention hearing.
