The Nassau County Bar Association recognized attorneys who donated their time and expertise by providing pro bono services to those in need, at a dinner on March 5.

This year, 19 firms were recognized for providing free legal representation and information to indigent individuals on Long Island.

In the large firm category, the top 2023 providers included Bond, Schoeneck & King, Lewis Johs Avallone Aviles, Rivkin Radler and Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young.

“Rivkin Radler understands the value of giving back to the community through volunteer and pro bono legal services. We are proud to be recognized by the leadership of the Nassau County Bar Association for the ninth consecutive year,” the firm’s managing partner, Evan Krinick, said in a written statement.

In the medium firm category, Capetola & Divins and Vishnick McGovern Milizio were recognized.

Among those in the small firm category that were recognized were Schneider, Garrastegui, & Fedele, Taylor, Eldridge & Endres and Walsh, Markus, McDougal & DeBellis.

Recognized solo providers included Dennis Buchanan, Michael H. Cohn, Deep Chopra, Donna M. Fiorelli, Stuart P. Gelberg, Faith Getz Rousso, Evelyn Kalenscher, Abraham B. Krieger, Harold M. Somer, and Andrew Thaler.

The recognition dinner was presented by the bar association’s Access to Justice Committee, along with the bar association itself as well as The Safe Center LI – a nonprofit that works to protect, assist and empower victims of family violence and sexual assault – and Nassau Suffolk Law Services – a nonprofit that aims to help low-income Long Islanders in crisis gain access to justice.
