Human Remains Found In Catawba County Identified As Missing Woman From Winston-Salem

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. – Investigators have identified the human remains found by Duke Energy workers in Sherrill’s Ford near a small creek.

Deputies were notified at 3:43 pm on March 26, 2024 after the remains were located along East NC Highway 150. During the crime scene investigation, items connected to Eileen Lavery, 23, who was reported missing by the Winston Salem Police Department, were located. Lavery was last seen in March of 2023.

Lavery’s dental records, analyzed during an autopsy performed on March 28th, matched the human remains recovered by investigators. The cause and manner of Lavery’s death remains under investigation, according to a news release. Anyone with information about Lavery or information that might aid in this investigation is asked to call 911.
