There are just a few RV and camper manufacturers that can trace their beginnings to decades ago. While Venture RV may appear like one of the newer kids on the block, their roots go back to 1972, and with that in mind, we'll be exploring their Sonic lineup to see what over 50 years of know-how can bring to the table.
Folks, Venture RV is technically a younger brand in the travel trailer game, but what most people don't know is that they're an off-shoot of KZ RV, a crew that's been around since 1972 and building campers for America's adventurers since day one.

As for Venture themselves, we've featured their work before, and this time around, it's the Sonic's turn. It's possible that you've seen the other Sonic units, the Lite and the X, but this one sits right in the middle of the two, so we can use it as a clear indicator of what Venture has in store and what they're all about.

Now, Sonics aren't the biggest travel trailers that this crew can create, but they're still very much able to accommodate rather large families. High ceilings, residential-sized kitchens, and even Murphy beds ensure that you and your loved ones have plenty of space for day-to-day activities. Yet, my favorite part of the Sonic is its inclination toward outdoor living, so let's start there.

For the remainder of this short literary trip, you'll need to pick yourself one of the six available layouts; I've decided to choose the SN220VRB as the unit that's fit for me, mainly because I don't have any kids and because this is one of the units that's equipped with an outdoor galley as standard. It can, however, still accommodate up to four guests.

If that snags your attention, how about an average sale price starting at around $35K? Are you hooked now? I'd be. Oh, and this isn't even the smallest unit this lineup offers, so be sure to dive deeper if you want to spend even less.

Since I have no idea how you like to live your life, I'm going to paint a picture of the sort of things I'd do with one of these babies, and all that starts with me hitching up this puppy behind my truck. As long as your vehicle can handle over 5,840 lbs (2,649 kg, the heaviest unit: the SN220VRB) of total tow load, you're good to go. It's time to drive to some park, find your spot, and let's go.

One feature that Venture RV relies on to help expand the interior of these habitats is the slide-out, and with it, five out of the six floorplans grow just enough to create large living rooms, space to easily traverse the camper, and even set up a little space for some morning Yoga; I recommend enjoying this activity outside, bathing in the sun of a new day, but you do you. The Murphy bed options are sure to expand interiors even further.

As for how my life would unfurl in one of these babies, I'd wake up to the sounds of birds chirping outside my window - I'm lucky enough to know of some pretty sweet vineyards where I can pitch my Sonic - and with eyes half-shut, head to the kitchen, put on a pot of coffee, and remark on the feeling of home this process brings about. Moments later, my travel companion is awake too, and breakfast is soon on the table.

It's at this stage that you would have to make a choice: to dine indoors or outdoors. Since outdoor adventure is the name of the game, I invite you to head outside, plates and coffee in hand, and plop them down on the outdoor dining set you brought along, all in the rays of a new day. Forget about breakfast at Tiffany's; this is where it's all really at.

Now, after eating, I personally like to enjoy my coffee, have a cigarette or two, and just let digestion do its thing without moving around too much. But this doesn't mean you have to do the same. Due to an array of outdoor living features, each Sonic is designed to maximize joy.

Your joy takes the shape of kayaking or fishing, maybe even just thinking about what to throw up on that outdoor grill for lunch, or possibly some sunbathing; all this is made possible by features the likes of a large pass-through storage and some units, like the one I've chosen for this adventure, even integrate an outdoor into their shell.

Best of all, while we're out here doing god knows what, the Sonic will be in the background working its magic and soaking up precious energy from the sun, keeping the interior cool or warm - no matter how you like it - and ensuring you've got hot running water and that your food doesn't spoil.

All the Sonic magic doesn't stop there, either. According to the manufacturer's website, there are plenty of extras that go into bringing one of these babies to life, and one aspect that I need to bring to light is the heated and enclosed underbelly and residential-grade fiberglass insulation.

Why is all this so important? Think about it for a second; "residential-grade" means home-like living, and with that heated underside, we're able to take these babies well into the colder months, assuming you don't like in Alaska or something like that. Yeah, that'll do it for me; where do I sign?
