More sad news from the Hawaii surf world.

On Monday, a 19-year-old surfer was hospitalized in critical condition after suffering an injury at China Walls, a popular Oahu surf spot on the island's south shore.

According to Hawaii News Now, "Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said the teenaged surfer is in serious condition after he got hurt at China Walls in Hawaii Kai."

Hawaii News Now continued:

"First responders arrived at the scene just before 5 p.m. Monday where crews found bystanders helping the man in the water.

"Firefighters and Ocean Safety assisted the injured surfer and brought him onto an HFD rescue boat. Crews then took him to the Moanalua Bay boat ramp where he was transported to a hospital by an ambulance.

"Details on the man’s injuries were not provided."

As of press time, no further details were available on Honolulu's first responder's websites.

More to come.

Last year, North Shore pro surfer Jamie O'Brien called China Walls "The Most Dangerous Surf Spot on the South Shore" in the title of one of his YouTube videos.

While it may not be the most dangerous wave on Oahu compared to giant Pipeline, O'Brien's not exactly exaggerating by calling China Walls "dangerous."

The lefthander breaks in shallow water over a sharp reef, right in front of a natural rock wall that's kind of more like a cliff.

This isn't the first accident at China Walls.

Last fall, a 24-year-old visitor from New York jumped from the rocks at the break and hit his head. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
