Greenville woman arrested for armed robbery at Nick's Food Mart in Bethel

A Greenville woman is now behind bars facing multiple charges following an armed robbery that took happened on March 21.

Deputies were dispatched to Nick's Food Mart located at 125 E. Washington Street in Bethel around 1:30 p.m. in reference to an armed robbery.

Once on scene, deputies uncovered multiple armed suspects wearing face coverings had entered the store. The clerk on duty was unharmed and was able to safely make it to the office.

Through investigation authorities were able to identify Tairina Lavelle Spellman, 34 of Greenville as one of the armed suspects. After obtaining warrants on Spellman, they found her in possession of the vehicle used in the robbery.

The vehicle was seized as part of the investigation.

Spellman was arrested and is facing the following charges:

  • Attempted robbery with dangerous weapon
  • Conspire to commit armed robbery
  • Second-degree kidnapping

Spellman remains at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $260,000 secured bond.
