Greenville woman charged in Bethel store robbery

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Greenville woman remains in jail after her arrest on Friday for a store robbery in Bethel.

Pitt County deputies say Nick’s Food Mart on Washington Street was robbed around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The armed robbers walked into the store with their faces covered, according to deputies. The clerk was able to get safely inside the office and wasn’t hurt.

Detectives quickly identified Tairna Spellman as one of the robbers and obtained arrest warrants for her.

When arrested on Friday, deputies say she was in her vehicle which was used in the robbery.

Spellman was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspire to commit armed robbery, and second-degree kidnapping.

The 34-year-old woman was jailed on a $260,000 secured bond.
