Michigan football makes top group for elite 2025 defensive tackle

Michigan football hit the motherlode in 2022 when it managed to land the defensive tackle duo of Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. But neither was particularly highly rated as recruits.

The Wolverines came close to landing some top-flight talent in 2024, but many of those defense tackles evaded them. Such was the case for Justin Scott, the Chicago-based five-star who appeared Ann Arbor-bound before surprising by committing to rival Ohio State. That pledge didn’t last as Scott flipped to Miami (Fla.), but the maize and blue are still looking to get high-end talent at the position moving forward.

Another Chicago talent is on the radar and apparently the Wolverines are on his. 2025 Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick four-star Nathaniel Marshall released his top 12 on Monday and Michigan football made the cut.

There is hefty competition for his services, however. Aside from Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, Miami, Penn State, Florida, USC, Auburn, Tennessee, Oregon, and Illinois are also among his list of contenders.

Marshall is currently a four-star but he’s in five-star range, ranked No. 30 overall by the 247Sports Composite, if he remains in that spot, he will be a five-star upon the next re-rank.

There are currently no predictions as to where Marshall will end up, collegiately.
