OXFORD, Ohio (WJW) — An Oxford man repeatedly complained to his son’s educators that the boy was getting too much homework, and that it was cutting into their bonding time.

He complained so much he was arrested and booked into jail on harassment charges, according to a police report.

On Feb. 29, secretaries at Kramer Elementary School told police that Adam Sizemore, 38, of Oxford, had been calling the school repeatedly to complain about the amount of homework given to his son.

“During these conversations, Sizemore cursed at the secretaries while making demands of them,” wrote the reporting officer. “I spoke to Sizemore several times and told him not to call the school anymore.”

Sizemore also cursed at the police officer, according to the report. Before hanging up on Sizemore, the officer warned him that if he called back he’d be facing a telecommunications harassment charge. But he “called right back,” according to the report.

When officers visited his home to speak with him, he didn’t answer, according to the report. Meanwhile, he continued calling the school, and told the principal “he did not want his son to get homework,” the report said.

“I hoped that you put … your big boy britches on today and have a conversation like a big boy,” Sizemore allegedly said on one voicemail left for the principal. The principal expressed concern that Sizemore, with his “erratic behavior,” may come to the school to harm him.

Within another half-hour, the school’s office had received four more calls, according to the report. A police sergeant also noted Sizemore had started repeatedly calling police dispatchers as well.

Officers went to his house and arrested him. While being read his rights, Sizemore reportedly said freedom of speech gives him the right to “say what we wants.”

Sizemore is now charged with misdemeanor counts of telephone harassment and menacing, and posted a $100 bond for each, Butler County Area Court records show. He’s due for arraignment on Thursday, March 28.
