Many expect Steve Ballmer will eventually give Paul George extension?

- by

Many sources around the league think Clippers governor Steve Ballmer will eventually decide to pay up. The nuance may be in the number of years. A sign-and-trade wouldn’t be legal for the Clippers. Even without George, the Clippers’ payroll is high enough that the team has no real means to replace him if he leaves for the Sixers.

George first began to notice more of what he called “that next wave of guys” approaching him during his 2015-16 season in Indiana. “Coming into that year is where I slowly started to hear, ‘Yo, you’re my favorite player. I look up to you,'” George told ESPN. “My come up is where the young generation started to kind of gravitate towards me.” -via ESPN / March 26, 2024
