In its inaugural season, the Gretna East baseball team has made its way into the record books.
The Griffins defeated Omaha Buena Vista 40-1 on Wednesday, while racking up 23 hits, overtaking the previous single-game record of 35 runs held by Papillion-La Vista.
Easton Leahy led the Griffins with a video-game stat line, finishing 5-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, six RBIs, five runs scored and three walks. As a team, Gretna East drew 18 walks, had 35 RBIs and tallied five extra-base hits.
The Griffins nearly broke the record in their first game of the season, beating Omaha Benson 30-0.
Lincoln Christian 8, Lincoln High 2: The Crusaders' bats started hot, scoring four runs in the first two innings at Den Hartog Field. Class C No. 2 Lincoln Christian scored eight consecutive runs before the Links finally go on the board in the seventh inning. Charlie Wienke and Luke Reiling led the Crusaders in hits, both with two. Wienke added four runs while Reiling finished with five total bases, including a double and a triple. Ben Lanham led the Links with two hits.

GIRLS TENNIS
Lincoln Southeast 5, Lincoln North Star 4: Carolyn Skold and Annika Srivastav led the Knights with dominating singles performances, both winning 8-1. Southeast's Amanda Holding and Berkely Byler won tightest match of the dual, winning 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
GIRLS SOCCER
Lincoln Pius X 2, Lincoln Southeast 0: Tatum Heimes led the Class A No. 9 Thunderbolts with both goals. Her first came at the 18:15 mark in the first half, with the second at the 37:00 mark in the second. Kate Miller earned the shutout in goal. The Thunderbolts are 4-1 on the season.
