JAMES CITY — A man’s body was found in a vehicle that had crashed into a tree Wednesday night in James City County.
Kingsmill police officers discovered the crash off Busch Service Road, and James City County police and fire departments responded around 7:12 p.m. Police determined a 2009 Hyundai Sonata crashed near the Kingsmill Woods Golf Course.
The man, Benjamin Baxter, 68, of Newport News, was the only occupant.
It is unclear what caused the car to veer off the road but police do not believe alcohol was a factor. The road was closed for four hours Wednesday night, and the crash is under investigation.
