JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A local organization is helping men overcome the trials and tribulations associated with drug addiction.

Breaking Bonds Ministries is a 7-month-long program for men who struggle with drug and alcohol addiction.

“Here at breaking bonds, we help those men establish a relationship with Jesus Christ, and in that, Jesus gives us the power to fight our addiction and break those bonds,” said the pastor of Breaking Bonds Ministries Brandon Dunning.

The program offers men a second chance to get and stay on the right path in life. It helps those who lost everything due to their addiction to overcome it.

“Very few of them deal with just one drug. Usually, many of the men we work with struggle with maybe one, two, or three different types of things but fentanyl has been on the rise here as of lately,” said Pastor Dunning.

Pastor Dunning said fentanyl is way more deadly than other prescription opioids. He says they have seen a rise in overdoses and deaths, and in the legal system, people are being sentenced for having possession of the drug.

“Our method and our approach is the same no matter what drug. It doesn’t matter if it’s alcohol, something that is legal or if it’s illegal, we approach it all the same. We believe that addiction no matter what it is has the same root and the same spot,” Dunning said.

Pastor Dunning says Breaking Bonds Ministries is something like a fresh start for the men.

He also says faith plays a huge role in the success of breaking addiction.

“For the men who come in and they want to completely change their lives and want a whole new future, and they do that with Jesus at the forefront of their lives, we see amazing results,” said Pastor Dunning.
