On April 8, the moon will come between the earth and the sun, and the shadow of the moon will race across the United States. People in Greensboro will be able to see more than 80% of the sun’s disc covered by the moon. To celebrate this rare event, the Guilford College Physics Department will host a two-part observatory and planetarium open house event. At 7 p.m. April 6, the college will welcome visitors to the Frank Family Science Center for a lecture and planetarium show about eclipses. If the weather is clear, attendees may go up to the rooftop of the Donald Cline Observatory to observe other stars and celestial objects through their telescopes.
