An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in a shooting at a Mercy Drive apartment complex that killed a woman in September, the second one since the investigation began, the Orlando Police Department announced Thursday.

Christian Childs was arrested in Osceola County, six months after a shootout erupted in a courtyard at Jernigan Gardens Apartments that killed Macayla Queen Patterson, 22, and injured three others. He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, shooting into a building, discharging a firearm on residential property and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Another man, 23-year-old Delray Duncan, was charged with murdering Patterson on Sept. 22 in a shooting sparked by large group of people firing that ended with multiple shots being fired. Patterson was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and died later that day.

Three others were injured by gunfire. The shooting was followed by a car chase ending at Old Winter Garden Road and Duncan Place, where police detained three suspects, one of whom was critically injured, OPD said at the time.

No other details were released of Childs’ arrest or his role in the shooting nor were court filings available as of Thursday afternoon.
