Adele Roberts has revealed she's envied by her Dancing on Ice co-stars over the surprising item that helps her skate with a stoma.

Speaking to the Mirror and other press, Adele, who is partnered with pro skater Mark Hanretty, addressed what it's been like to skate with a stoma. She said: "It's been a dream, I'm still getting used to having a stoma because I've not had one that long and some people have them from birth, babies and kids have them.

"The way the ostimate community have supported me, it's been amazing. And all the other contestants as well, they've all helped me in their own way and all the pros. It's a privilege to be an ostomate and to be on this show and to be the first one in the history of the show to have a stoma. Also, to work out how to train with a stoma, when to eat, when to drink, what to do with my bag starts coming off which it has done."

Interjecting, Miles, who was in the interview with Adele, joked: "The amount of Lucazade bottles in your room – you have about 500!" Adele explained: "One side effect of having a stoma is that I'm always dehydrated because I have an ileostomy and so I don't have access to the large colon which is where water gets reintroduced into the body so I have special drinks and Miles is always eying them up."

Adele went on to reveal that she's more excited than nervous to perform Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean's iconic Bolero routine during the final. She said: "It kind of feels like a wedding – you get your first dance, well this will be our last dance and you want it so bad for your partner.

"I want to do it so much for Mark. He deserves to do it, I don't think he's ever done the Bolero on the show and he's the longest-serving pro. It is a dream, it’s an honour. I was four years old when I first saw the Bolero with my mum and to think that that four-year-old girl will learn to skate and could potentially be performing the Bolero in front of Torvill and Dean – I've got goosebumps now just saying it. It's like a movie script and is an absolute privilege."

Adele will compete in the final along with fellow stars Olympian Greg Rutherford, Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas and Made in Chelsea's Miles.

Meanwhile, Miles explained he wasn't prepared for how challenging Dancing on Ice would be when he agreed to join this year's line-up. "No one can prepare you for this," he said. "Even Vanessa in the beginning said to me, ‘By the way, it's going to get really intense.’

"And I was like ‘Yeah, I've done loads of TV shows.’ But, wow, I should have my fee. This is one of the hardest things I've ever done. One of the most beautiful things I've ever done in terms of being so disciplined into one thing and focusing your whole life into one big long four months really.

"And it's been a magical, crazy, exhausting journey, but I think I speak for all of us when I say I’d do it all again if I had to – it's been incredible. And whoever does it next year, I will pre-warn – don't do it!"
