Saying Warzone Mobile's launch has been less than stellar would be an understatement.
Since its release on March 21, the mobile version of the popular Warzone battle royale game has left many players devastated due to its unoptimized state. Fans of the popular FPS series have reported overheating, crashes, and glitches online.
After recently acknowledging the game's 'teething' issues by posting a list of addressed and identified issues, Activision took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the ongoing fixes for Android users.
The post reads:
"Update for Android Players. The team has been hard at work and is near deployment of an update addressing a number of things to improve performance further."
The post does not mention iOS fixes for Apple device users who reported issues while playing the game.
The fixes for Android that were listed are as follows:
- Fixed: Resolved issue preventing certain devices from accessing full fidelity graphics.
- Fixed: Sped up the time it takes to stream assets to certain devices, so they look better and load faster.
- Fixed: Addressed various graphical corruptions and crashes identified by the community.
- Fixed: Prevented unsupported devices from downloading the game to avoid any confusion. (Related to unsupported GPU messages)
In addition, a follow-up post from the official Warzone Mobile X account called for players to visit the Warzone Mobile subreddit to report ongoing issues.
Hopefully, iPhone and iPad users will also see fixes roll out for their devices, although reports suggest that Warzone Mobile has been running better on Apple devices.
Some fans have claimed this has been the worst Call of Duty launch yet, and they will need to quickly implement fixes if they want to keep their loyal fans playing.
Addressing the issues after launch brings to question the amount of testing done during the soft launch period, which started in December 2023. Early adopters made it known that there were performance issues during their time playing the shooter.
Those suffering most from the issues seem to be playing the game on devices on the older end of the scale but still above the minimum recommended specs listed on the official Activision website. It will be interesting to see how quickly the launch problems can be fixed and whether they can be at all for some devices.
