THIS MONDAY NIGHT. I’M MIKE CLARK. LOT TO GET TO TONIGHT. UP FIRST, THIS FIRE AT A HIGH RISE APARTMENT BUILDING IN PITTSBURGH’S SQUIRREL HILL NEIGHBORHOOD. SKY FOUR, PITTSBURGH’S ONLY NEWS CHOPPER OVER THE MURRAY TOWERS ALONG MURRAY AVENUE. YOU CAN SEE THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING IS CHARRED THERE. RESIDENTS INSIDE WERE EVACUATED WHILE CREWS WORKED TO GET THAT FIRE UNDER CONTROL. THE CHIEF TELLING US TONIGHT THE FIRE STARTED IN A BEDROOM OF ONE OF THE APARTMENTS HERE ON THE SIXTH FLOOR. TH

A fire ripped through a Squirrel Hill apartment building Monday evening.Sky 4, Pittsburgh's only news chopper, was over the Murray Towers along the 2800 block of Murray Avenue. The side of the building was charred by the flames. Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire said the fire began around 4:45 p.m., starting in the bedroom of a sixth-floor apartment. By 5:30 p.m., it appeared that the fire was out. Residents inside were evacuated while crews worked to get the fire under control. Firefighters had to vent the building before residents could return. No one was injured, according to officials. There is no word yet on what might have caused the fire.
