Effingham woman found dead in residence

On March 20, 2024 at 11:59 a.m., the Effingham County Coroner’s office was advised of a death at 500 N. 4th St. in Effingham.

Family members advised they found the individual unresponsive. Effingham City Police, City Police Detective Division and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene investigator also responded to the scene.

The female was identified as Ashley Nicole Haarmann, 37, of Effingham, Illinois. She was pronounced deceased at 12:25 p.m. Ashley Haarmann lived at that location with her grandmother.

An autopsy is scheduled for 8 a.m. on Friday March 22, 2024 at the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office in Springfield, Illinois to determine the official cause of death. Medical records were obtained and the Coroner’s office is waiting the results of the autopsy and toxicology samples.

The investigation is continuing by the Effingham Police Department and the Effingham County Coroner’s Office.
