2025 Super Bowl odds: Bears curiously downgraded despite offseason moves

The Bears have been one of the busiest teams in football during the early going of the offseason, but their activity is actually being looked at negatively in the eyes of the Vegas sharps.

Since free agency opened earlier this week, Chicago has signed running back D’Andre Swift, tight end Gerald Everett, and center Coleman Shelton.

On Thursday, they jumped into the trade market, acquiring six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen.

Despite bolstering their offensive attack, the Bears’ 2024 outlook has actually dimmed, dropping from +4000 to win the 2025 Super Bowl to +5000, which is tied with the Indianapolis Colts for the 18-best odds in the NFL at BetMGM Sportsbook.

The Bears also remain a long shot to win the NFC North, sitting at +350 at FanDuel Sportsbook, the third-best odds to finish at the top of the division standings.

There’s still plenty of time before Week 1 for Chicago to improve their chances next season, but the downgrade in odds is at least a little surprising considering the upgrades they’ve made.

The Bears hold six picks in April’s NFL Draft, including No. 1 and No. 9 in the first round, with one of them expected to be quarterback Caleb Williams.

If they hold onto the top pick, the Bears are widely expected to take USC quarterback Caleb Williams, who is a -1200 favorite (DraftKings Sportsbook), to be selected No. 1 overall.

Although potential trade partners are dwindling, the Bears could also deal Justin Fields if they take a quarterback at No. 1 or move down for one, getting extra draft capital or assets that could help their 2024 prospects.

Chicago finished 7-10 last season, third in the NFC North, but they were much improved down the stretch and even had an outside shot at a playoff spot late in the year.

They went 5-3 over their final eight games on the back of an improved defense, which held opponents to 20 or fewer points in seven of those contests.

The franchise has had just one winning season – 2018, when the Bears finished 12-4 – in the past 11 seasons.
