LEXINGTON — The Lexington High School Athletic Department announced the hiring of Cassondra ‘Cassie’ Sund as the next Minutemaid softball head coach and Erica Brockmoller as the next Minutemaid volleyball head coach.
“Both ladies have a diverse coaching career, each spanning over a decade,” said Lexington Athletic Director Phil Truax. “The experience that both coaches had as former standout athletes at the high school and college level are valuable to help our volleyball and softball programs achieve higher levels.”
SoftballSund, a three sport athlete, graduated from Blair High School in 2007.
She earned a Class B First Team All-State honor for two years in softball and was First Team All-Conference in softball, basketball and soccer for multiple years. Also, Sund was named to the First Team Super State for soccer.

With such an outstanding athletic career, Sund was named to the Blair High School Hall of Fame.
Sund attended the University of Nebraska-Kearney and was a four-year starter on the Loper softball team.
At UNK, Sund earned First Team All-Conference three of her four years for third base and Utility. Sund also, set the career homerun record which she still holds.
Sund graduated in 2012 with a degree in Education then completed her Master’s in 2016 from UNK.
In the fall of 2012, Sund started her teaching and coaching career at Elkhorn High School. At Elkhorn, Sund was a Special Education teacher, varsity assistant softball coach and Middle School basketball coach.
During her time coaching, Elkhorn won the 2014 Class B State Championship.
Sund was hired to the Lexington Public School system in 2015 as well as her husband, Nate.
The Sunds’ have been in Lexington for the past eight years. Nate currently works on the school’s buildings and is a part of the grounds crew.
Coach Sund has been a Middle School Science teacher, High School math teacher, head varsity softball coach, assistant varsity girls soccer coach, academic coach for softball, bowling and soccer.
Currently, Sund is the Lexington Public Schools Teammates coordinator.
Cassie and Nate have three boys, Hunter (8) and 5-year old twins, River and Drake.

Volleyball:
Brockmoller, an Omaha native, graduated from Omaha Gross High School in 2006.
In high school, the volleyball team was a three-time state qualifier and won the State Championship in 2005.
She earned a Class B First Team All-State honor and was named to the All-Class Super State team.
Brockmoller continued her education and athletic career at the University of Nebraska-Kearney where she played volleyball.
In her time at UNK, she earned an RMAC All-Conference honor as an individual. The Lopers finished as RMAC Champions, had four NCAA appearances and made it to the Sweet 16 while Brockmoller was a starter.
In the fall of 2010, Brockmoller was hired onto the Lexington Public School teaching and coaching staff.
Brockmoller was the Minutemaid head volleyball coach from 2010 to 2015 before stepping away to focus on her family.
Brockmoller has been in Lexington for fourteen years and counting and during her time here she has served in many roles such as Journalism adviser, assistant powerlifting coach, tech core team member, LEA negotiations committee.
She has coached many State Champions in Journalism and powerlifting.
Brockmoller’s husband, Cole, is a High School Art teacher, assistant Minutemen football coach.
The Brockmoller’s have three sons, Otto (10), Fritz (7) and Rudiger (4).
