The Passport Seva portal, which is visited by thousands of applicants every day, has developed technical issues, adversely affecting the online application process as well as appointment bookings for visits to the Passport Seva Kendras across the country.
The technical issue has persisted for the last three days, causing inconvenience to passport applicants. While the officials with the Passports Seva division of the Ministry of External Affairs could not be contacted despite repeated attempts, a person manning its toll-free helpline said that no bookings were happening owing to issues with the portal.
“Due to some technical issue, the website has been down for the last three days. Our technical team is working on it. We haven’t received any time-frame for resumption of normal services. People haven’t been able to book appointments in the last few days,” said the person manning the helpline.
Some irate citizens took to social media to complain about the issue.
