PLANT FLOWERS. NOW, THE WGAL NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM FORECAST WITH METEOROLOGIST ETHAN HOUSTON. ASTRONOMICAL SPRING STARTS TOMORROW, BUT IT’S GOING TO FEEL MORE LIKE FEBRUARY. AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE DAY TODAY. TEMPERATURES WERE ABOUT 10 TO 15 DEGREES COOLER THAN YESTERDAY, BUT IT FELT EVEN COLDER THAN THAT BECAUSE WE HAD STRONG WINDS THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON. WE STILL HAVE THAT BRISK BREEZE OUT THERE. AS SKIES ARE NOW STARTING TO CLEAR. IT’S 35 IN LANCASTER WITH SUSTAINED WINDS AT 12MPH, MAKING IT FEEL LIKE IT’S 27. AND WE DID HAVE SOME STRONG GUSTS EARLIER TODAY. A GUST OF 33MPH IN LANCASTER, 36MPH AT THE AIRPORT SUSTAINED. WINDS NOW ANYWHERE FROM 5 TO 15, BUT A FEW ISOLATED LOCATIONS, LIKE AT THE AIRPORT, STILL GREATER THAN 20MPH. WE WERE TRACKING SOME AREAS OF SOME FLURRIES AND SOME LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS. THOSE HAVE DISSIPATED, WITH THE EXCEPTION NORTHWEST OF STATE COLLEGE, BUT THAT’S WHERE THEY WILL STAY THROUGH THE NIGHT. TONIGHT WE WILL SEE THE CONTINUATION OF THE CLEARING OF THE SKIES, BUT THAT WINTER CHILL WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD AS WELL. LOWS TONIGHT WILL BE DOWN INTO THE LOW TO MID 30S, BUT WHEN YOU FACTOR IN THE BREEZE THAT STILL COULD GUST UP TO 20MPH THROUGH THE NIGHT. IT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE IT’S IN THE 20S NEAR DAWN. WE’LL KEEP THOSE FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES IN THE 20S, BUT LOTS OF BLUE SKIES TO START OUR TUESDAY. BUT MORE CLOUDS WILL BUILD IN AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. LOOK FOR HIGHS TOMORROW TO BE IN THE MID TO UPPER 40S, WITH THE WIND GUSTS POSSIBLY UP TO NEAR 25MPH. MADE IT TO 48 TODAY, AND THE LOW WAS 36. THAT WAS JUST DURING THE PAST HOUR. STILL AN ABOVE AVERAGE DAY, BUT TODAY WAS THE COLDEST DAY SO FAR THIS MONTH. YESTERDAY WE SAW A HIGH OF 60 AND YOU CAN SEE THAT INCREDIBLE WARMTH THAT WE HAD LATE LAST WEEK. SO TEMPERATURES CERTAINLY GOING TO BE COOLER THAN AVERAGE FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. RIGHT NOW, 36 DEGREES IN LEBANON, THE SAME IN HARRISBURG DOWN TO 35. IF YOU’RE WATCHING US IN YORK AND IN LANCASTER, YOU CAN SEE THAT UNSEASONABLE CHILL HAS BUILT IN ACROSS THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY, UP ALONG THE GREAT LAKES AND DOWN INTO THE SOUTHEAST, WHERE THERE ARE A NUMBER OF FROST AND FREEZE ADVISORIES IN EFFECT THROUGH THE NIGHT. BUT WITH THIS CHILL, NOT MUCH ACTION WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THOSE SNOW DRIVEN SHOWERS UP ALONG THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY. FOR US, IT’S HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING IN FROM THE WEST INTO ACTING. WITH THE SERIES OF STORMS OFF TO OUR NORTH AND ALSO OUT TO SEA. SO WATCH WHAT HAPPENS HERE ON THE PREDICTOR. YOU CAN SEE WE GET THE CLEARING OF THE SKIES THROUGH THE NIGHT TONIGHT, BUT WE’LL KEEP THAT BRISK BREEZE AROUND FOR YOUR TUESDAY MORNING. AND ALSO THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. THE CLOUDS WILL THICKEN UP AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE DAY TOMORROW. BUT THE BEST CHANCE FOR ISOLATED SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE NORTH OF I-80. ANOTHER COLD FRONT WILL GET HERE THROUGH THE DAY. WEDNESDAY, AND THERE’S A LITTLE BIT OF MOISTURE OUT AHEAD OF THAT FRONT THAT WE COULD SEE. ISOLATED RAIN SHOWERS AS THIS FRONT MOVES ON BY. BUT WHAT THIS FRONT WILL DO IS JUST BRING IN COOLER AIR ONCE AGAIN. SO WE’RE GOING TO GET A COUPLE OF REINFORCING SHOTS OF COLD CANADIAN AIR THAT’S GOING TO PUSH TEMPERATURES DOWN BELOW AVERAGE. IN FACT, I THINK WE COULD SEE A COUPLE OF NIGHTS WITH THE FREEZE OUT THERE, ESPECIALLY FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY WHERE LOWS WILL BE DOWN INTO THE 20S. BUT THIS IS STILL EARLY IN THE YEAR FOR US. OUR AVERAGE LAST SPRING FREEZE FOR MOST OF THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY IS MID APRIL. IT’S LATE APRIL AS YOU GET CLOSER TOWARDS STATE COLLEGE, BUT THE COLD DOESN’T HOLD. TEMPERATURES WILL START RETURNING TO NEAR AVERAGE AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND. NEXT BEST CHANCE FOR SOME SHOWERS WILL RETURN TO THE AREA LATER IN THE DAY. ON FRIDAY, WE’LL KEEP THE SHOWER CHANCES AROUND. FOR FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY. THERE IS A CHANCE WITH THOSE SHOWERS ON FRIDAY. A FEW FLAKES MAY TRY TO MIX IN. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE STORM’S TRACK. MORE SPRINGLIKE WARMTH WILL BE AROUND FOR MUCH OF NEXT WEEK WI
