“The Tulsa Film Collective is something we’ve wanted to establish for years,” Sterlin Harjo, co-founder of TFC, said. “Now feels like the right time as Tulsa’s film community grows and celebrates continued successes. Ethan’s dedication to storytelling and truth through cinema makes this event a perfect launch for the organization.”
Hawke guest-starred in a final-season episode of Harjo’s critically acclaimed “Reservation Dogs” series for FX, and they are working on a pilot for FX named “The Sensitive Kind.”
The organization selected Circle Cinema as the host of its inaugural event because of its historic significance as Tulsa’s independent film house.
“Since 1928, Circle Cinema has been dedicated to enriching the community’s cultural landscape through film, aligning perfectly with the aspirations of Tulsa Film Collective,” Ryan Thomas, the lead film programmer at Circle Cinema, said. “This collaboration promises exciting developments for Tulsa’s film enthusiasts, starting with an exciting evening featuring Ethan Hawke and Sterlin Harjo.”
Directed and co-written by Hawke, “Wildcat” invites the audience to weave in and out of celebrated Southern Gothic writer Flannery O’Connor’s mind as she ponders the great questions of her writing. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the event, with the screening of “Wildcat” beginning at 7 p.m.
Tickets, $20 for Circle Cinema members and $25 for non-members, are available online at CircleCinema.org.
