Police are investigating after a Rumpke driver was found dead on Monday.
According to police, CPD's Criminal Investigations Section responded to the 7100 block of Eastlawn Drive for a death investigation on Monday morning.
Arriving officers located a victim inside a Rumpke truck suffering from a gunshot wound. Cincinnati Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and determined the victim to be deceased.
The victim has been identified by police as Angel Flores, 30.
Officials said the investigation by the Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit is ongoing.
"Things need to change around here. People need to come together around here, and people need to stop hating on each other," nearby resident Gary Curtis said.
Curtis said he's lived in this area for more than 20 years. He tells us he saw police at the scene Monday, combing through evidence.
"This neighborhood, it has changed a lot. Now they call it death row because I just had a friend who died here a couple of days ago," Curtis said.
Later on Monday, Rumpke released a statement to WLWT, saying in part, "We appreciate the Cincinnati Police Department's quick response and we will work closely with them as they conduct this investigation."
The statement continued, saying, "Nothing is more important than our team members and their safety. We are a close team, and today, all of our hearts are broken. Our thoughts are with the family, friends and co-workers of our driver. We will be working with our Employee Assistance Program to make sure our team members have resources available as they come to terms with today's incident and grieve for the loss of a friend."
The investigation by the Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit is ongoing. Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 513-352-3542.
