Charles Barkley has a long resume. NBA legend, sports commentator, internet darling for his antics on television and now an apparent Beyhive member.

As the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Dallas Maverick game hit halftime on Thursday, TNT transferred to "Inside the NBA" halftime show with Ernie Johnson, Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith. The pan from the game to the America Express Halftime Show featured the music of Beyoncé, queen of diversity when it comes to music genres, and it was an exciting one for Barkley.

"Come on Beyoncé, sing that thing. Whoo, hold em' baby," exclaimed Barkley as Beyoncé's genre-bending country hit "TEXAS HOLD 'EM" introduced the halftime show.

Barkley continued before his co-host gently ribbed him about knowing the song. Barkley wasn't phased and proclaimed his love for country music and shared some Beyoncé knowledge. The interaction between the four commentators lasted more than two minutes, and basketball was barely a talking point.

See how the hilarious moment unfolded below:

Watch: Charles Barkley shares his Beyoncé knowledge

Barkley's enthusiasm for Beyoncé's latest foray into country music and his knowledge regarding her upcoming country album had his fellow cast members trying to bring the show back on topic, back to basketball.

As Johnson started the halftime show, Barkley told fellow commentator Smith not to be a "hater," at one point and the topic of country music and Beyoncé started once again with Barkley talking about her upcoming album. That's when Shaq stepped in.

"I didn't know you's was part of the Hive, Chuck," O'Neal joked as Johnson tried to get the program underway, referencing the way Beyoncé's diehard fans are known as. O'Neal's deep laugh drowned out Johnson and several other comments.

"I'm part of the hive, you part of the kitty," Barkley fired back in the midst of laughter.

Apparently the kitty is an inside joke that no one else needs to know about, at least according to Smith.

Charles Barkley shouts out War and Treaty, Dan + Shay

Beyoncé's song also led Barkley to discuss country music, including his new favorite band, The War and Treaty.

"War and Treaty, my new favorite band other than Dan and Shay," Barkley said as he diverged from the topic of Beyoncé.

The War and Treaty is husband-and-wife duo Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter. The two have graced the Grand Ole Opry stage, been recognized the Country Music Hall of Fame and have received nominations for Duo of the Year nomination from the Country Music Association and Vocal Duo from the Academy of Country Music.
