Motorists travelling through Oxford have been warned about six road closures to avoid on the National Highways network over the next week.

And two of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that eight closures are due to start over the next two weeks.

Roads need to be closed occasionally for a variety of reasons, although the main reason is generally to avoid danger to the public or to those working on or next to roads.

Oxford road closures:

• A34, from 8pm March 19 to 5am March 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Peartree to Botley, Lane closure for drainage work.

• A34, from 8pm March 19 to 6am March 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound, Peartree, slip road and lane closures for drainage work.
