Metro riders exit the new Historic Broadway Metro station.

    Topline:

Fares for Metro Micro, the agency’s rideshare program, has gone up from $1 to $2.50 base fare per ride. Metro said the fee hikes will make the program “more financially sustainable.”

New fares: Under the new fee structure, Metro Micro riders can transfer for free to Metro Bus and Rail. To transfer to Metro Micro, riders will have to pay 75 cents.

Seniors, people with a disability and low income residents enrolled in the Low-Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) program are eligible for 20 free rides on Metro Micro. After that they will have to pay the $2.50 fare.

Students in the GoPass program can still use Metro Micro for the $1 fee, as well as seniors and people with disabilities.

EZ Transit Pass holders will be able to ride Metro Micro for a discounted 75 cents.

What is Metro Micro: It’s a rideshare program in pockets of Los Angeles County that are “hard to serve with conventional bus services.” Metro Micro does not have a set schedule like Metro Rail and Bus. Instead, riders can book rides via the app in these areas:

    • Watts/Compton
    • LAX/Inglewood
    • El Monte
    • North Hollywood/Burbank
    • Highland Park/Eagle Rock/Glendale
    • Altadena/Pasadena/Sierra Madre
    • Northwest San Fernando Valley
