GREENDALE, Wis. (WISN) - Shocking video shows the moments after a little girl fell off a two-story escalator in Wisconsin.

It happened late last month at Southridge Mall in Greendale.

“I have a call on the line saying he’s calling from Southridge Mall with a girl that fell off the escalator,” the dispatcher is heard saying.

Multiple calls were made to 911 from Southridge Mall the night of Feb. 27, as horrified shoppers saw and heard a 6-year-old girl fall from a second-floor escalator railing.

“I looked over and the little girl was down and mom and dad were turning and we just heard them screaming. I ran because I didn’t know if it was real. I didn’t know what the hell it was,” a witness said.

The video shows paramedics trying to keep the girl steady as they put her on the stretcher to take her to a hospital.

An officer talked to the girl’s father and stepmother.

The parents said they got off the escalator to go to Champs.

“I thought that she was close near us, but she was by the escalator. And by the time we turned around to call her over, she was like, ‘Oh,’ kind of like, ‘Hey, look what I can do’ type thing,” the girl’s stepmother said.

A police report said the parents saw the girl gripping the top of the escalator railing.

“We were already on the second floor. And she grabs the top of the rail. And she goes and she was like Superman,” the girl’s father said.

Despite the terrifying fall from the second floor, the girl survived, speaking to police soon after.

“Anything hurt on you at all? Your head? What hurts?” the officer asked.

“My back and arm,” the girl said.

“Your back and your arm? You don’t remember falling and hurting it, though?” the officer asked.

The child was released from the hospital a week after the incident.
