Former Saints All-Pro Returner Gets Released By Bills
A former Saints receiver will be a free agent when the new league year rolls around. According to the NFL Transaction Report, the Buffalo Bills are releasing Deonte Harty. The move was first reported by NFL Network.
Harty, who just turned 26 in December, signed with the Bills last offseason to a two-year, $9.5 million deal after not receiving a long-term deal from New Orleans that he originally sought under the restricted free agent tag. He played in 16 games for Buffalo, but didn't put up a ton of production in their offense.
In his time in New Orleans, Harty was an All-Pro in his rookie season after going undrafted and proving to be a big find for the Saints in 2019. He went on to be a First-Team All-Pro, Pro Bowler and made the PFWA All-Rookie Team after being the NFL's punt return yards leader. Entering 2022, it was supposed to be a big season for Harty, but a significant toe injury caused him to miss almost all of the season.
There's going to be plenty of fallout from now until next week when the new league year starts on March 13, as there will be plenty of displaced veterans who will end up as cap casualties or given fresh starts on the market.
