BLOOMINGTON — The City of Bloomington reported one of its recycling trucks caught fire Thursday morning while hauling a full load.
The incident occurred on Beich Road and Poppy Street while the truck was conducting its route, the city said. The driver noticed smoke coming from the rear of the truck and took immediate action and notified the Bloomington Fire Department, according to a news release.
The driver was able to relocate the truck to a less populated area, minimizing the risk to nearby residents and structures.
The city said the fire is under investigation and the area was temporarily shut down as crews and investigators worked at the scene.
