ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Investigators have determined the cause of a fire that happened on January 25 at the Irondequoit Department of Public Works facility.

Investigators said the fire was due to an electrical mechanical issue in one of the trucks that was destroyed in the fire. The three trucks that were lost in the fire were old, but the one that was believed to have started it was a 2007 model. None of them had cutoff switches.

Nobody was injured as a result of the fire. In addition to the trucks being destroyed, firefighters said part of the fabric roof above the fire melted. The fire was put out quickly without any more damage.

Following the fire, the Dept. of Public Works said it took action to make sure all its vehicles will be equipped with cutoff switches. All of the fire’s damage will be covered by Irondequoit’s insurance and will not result in any further cost to the community.
