Spurs' Gregg Popovich Praises 'Pretty Tough' Suns Trio

The San Antonio Spurs are recovering after a 131-106 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night inside the Frost Bank Center.

The Spurs and Suns are very far off on paper, so the result wasn't a huge surprise even though San Antonio had beaten Phoenix earlier in the year on the road. While the Suns are eyeing a deep playoff run, the Spurs are still trying to figure out how to play with one another ... which puts them at a massive disadvantage.

“They did the best they could," Popovich said of the Spurs postgame. "I thought we had a little more contact and physicality in the second half, but you're not going to stop [Devin Booker] and [Kevin Durant] from doing what they're doing, and [Bradley Beal] is healthy now. That's a pretty tough trio. Our guys did everything they could, and you move on.”

The Suns have struggled with injuries all year long and have barely gotten Booker, Durant and Beal on the floor together. But when they are on their A-game together on the floor, they are tough to beat for anyone, let alone a Spurs team on pace for the worst season in franchise history.

However, the Spurs will get another chance to test themselves against the Suns when the two teams meet on the floor inside the Frost Bank Center again tomorrow night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
