Coast Guard rescues boaters stranded near Venice Inlet

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - On Monday night, Coast Guard Station Cortez responded to a distressed sailboat off the coast of Venice.

The boat had suffered damage to its mast by weather conditions. The USCG found the boat about four miles from the Venice Inlet.

The mast was hanging off the vessel but was still attached. The two individuals onboard were rescued and transported to the nearest safe harbor.
