Concert Pianist to Perform at UW April 7

Concert pianist Ksenia Nosikova will perform “Virtuoso Gems from the Piano Literature” Sunday, April 7, at 3 p.m. in the University of Wyoming’s Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall.

The free public concert will feature music by J.S. Bach, Rachmaninoff, Clementi, Beethoven and Liszt.

Nosikova has been praised as “first rate” by Fono Forum; “full of dramatic intensity” by International Piano; and a “phenomenal instrumentalist; absorbing, dramatic, compelling and riveting” by Fanfare magazine.

She has performed in numerous professional concert venues, including Shanghai City Hall in China; City Hall Theatre in Hong Kong; Chetham’s International Piano Series in England; and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She has presented over 170 performances at American universities’ guest artist series. Her extensive repertoire list reflects her commitment to presenting versatile programs of masterworks and lesser-known compositions and includes over 30 piano concertos.

Nosikova has recorded for Profil Medien, Hänssler Classic, Albany Records, Centaur Records and Capstone Records labels. Among her critically acclaimed recordings are the complete three volumes of “Années de Pèlerinage” (“Years of Pilgrimage”) by Liszt. As a member of Avita Duo, she recorded 24 Preludes for Violin and Piano and “Oskolki” by contemporary Russian-born American composer Lera Auerbach, which were released by Hänssler Classic in 2022.

A graduate of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the University of Colorado, Nosikova serves as a professor and chair of the piano department at the University of Iowa. She also is a member of the artist faculties of Wiener MusikSeminar International Master Classes in Austria. Nosikova serves as a member of the American Liszt Society’s Board of Directors and as artistic director of the Key Change: Piano Revolutionaries and Piano Sundays at Old Capitol concert series. She is a Steinway Artist and Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame inductee.
