State Police say James Lee Kopp Jr., 53, allegedly abducted the girl at gunpoint and fled the scene.

Police say a be on the lookout was immediately broadcasted to local law enforcement agencies and the Amber Alert process was initiated.

Minutes later, police say, a Conewago Township Police Officer saw the vehicle in the 5600 block of Hanover Road and a police chase began.

After about two miles, police say Kopp drove off the road into a field in the 1300 block of Littlestown Road where his vehicle became disabled.

According to police, the child was found uninjured and Kopp was located deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Kopp had previously been charged with rape of a child two weeks ago with bail set at $500,000 which officials say he posted last week.
