Costing an estimated $2.5 billion, the latest I-4 overhaul will stretch 14 miles, Florida transportation officials said Tuesday. The project adds toll lanes and a mass transit option starting in the east at State Road 536 near Disney Springs, crossing a 7-mile section of Osceola County that includes the ChampionsGate community, and ending at U.S. Highway 27 in Polk County to the west.

The construction will be put out for bid in segments in 2024 and 2025. It could be done in a decade, far faster than initially projected.

The new project will extend the current construction effort known as Beyond the Ultimate, which is adding express lanes to the previously completed I-4 Ultimate project through Orlando.

When everything is completed, Central Florida will have 40 miles of modern interstate from southwest Seminole County to north Polk County.
