A man was struck down while waiting for a bus in San Francisco's Richmond District when a car careened into the bus shelter, authorities said. The San Francisco Police Department reported the incident occurred at about 4:50 pm on Saturday at Fulton Street and Park Presidio Boulevard, across from Golden Gate Park, SFist states.

The injured pedestrian, an adult male, was found on the sidewalk by officers who quickly rendered aid. According to a statement obtained by KGO, medics rushed the victim to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle, a Nissan, ended up on the curb, slamming into and atop a "yield to pedestrians" sign.

Adding to the gravity, the crash took place just a week following a tragic incident where a 78-year-old woman drove into a West Portal bus shelter, claiming the lives of a family of four. Although the driver from the prior accident remains uncharged, a San Francisco resident and eyewitness to the latest crash, Jen Nossokoff, expressed her dismay, telling KGO, "I'm broken that exactly one week after the horrific tragedy in West portal, I witnessed a man being put on a stretcher after suffering a head injury from yet another car crashing into people who were waiting at a bus stop."

Law enforcement issued citations to the male driver of the Nissan for multiple moving violations. In the wake of these incidents, State Senator Scott Wiener appealed for safer streets and stricter speeding regulations on social media, per SFist, proclaiming, "We can make our roads safer." Wiener is advocating for legislation that would enforce speed limits by capping car speeds to not more than 10 mph over the enforced limit.
