PAMELIA, N.Y. — A soldier stationed at Fort Drum died Wednesday, March 27 after his motorcycle crashed in Jefferson County.
According to New York State Police, 26-year-old Cordell W. Dunning was traveling eastbound on Interstate 781, near the overpass of State Route 37.
Around 12:44 p.m., Dunning lost control of his motorcycle after he rear-ended another motorcycle and struck a guard rail. Dunning was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other motorcycle is also a soldier stationed at Fort Drum. He was not injured and tested negative for alcohol/drug impairment.
The investigation is ongoing.
