RACINE — A Beloit man has been accused of stealing electronics and a dog from stores in Racine.
Camron Hoffman, 38, is charged with retail theft — intentionally conceal $5,000 to $10,000, felony retail theft — intentionally take $500 to $5,000, and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping.
He was given a $5,000 signature bond during an initial hearing Tuesday.
On March 19, a loss prevention agent at a store in the 5300 block of Durand Avenue submitted an online retail theft report.
The report stated that a man wearing a hat and glasses entered the store, selected an electric toothbrush, then asked an employee to take out a JBL Speaker, Nintendo Switch OLED and a Nintendo Switch game, according to the criminal complaint.
The man then went to the register and allegedly told the employee he did not have his wallet and needed to get it from his wife. The employee suspended the transaction and placed the bagged items in the back room of the store, according to the complaint.
