Under Investigation

HOUSTON, Texas — A fatal crash that occurred in the early hours of today on Galveston Road is currently under investigation by the Houston Police Department. The incident, which took place at 7200 Galveston Road around 2:05 a.m., resulted in the death of a 34-year-old male pedestrian.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. According to reports from the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, the driver of a white Lexus IS was traveling northbound when he noticed a male pedestrian standing in the roadway. Despite swerving to avoid hitting the pedestrian, the driver was unable to prevent the collision.

The 19-year-old male driver immediately called 9-1-1 and stayed at the scene until authorities arrived. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The driver was determined not to be impaired and was subsequently questioned and released.

The Houston Police Department continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
