Panda Express robbery

On Sunday, March 24, Mountain View dispatchers received a report of a robbery at Panda Express on El Monte Avenue. A 61-year-old transient man had allegedly pushed and swung at an employee before stealing a bag of food from behind the counter. The suspect then fled the restaurant, but police located him nearby and arrested him for robbery. No injuries were reported, police said.

The suspect is being held at the Santa Clara County Main Jail on $50,000 bail with a hearing scheduled for April 17, according to county records.

Man Tased after allegedly brandishing firearm

On Monday, March 25, police officers responded to a report of a 28-year-old Gilroy resident flashing a firearm at a person near Highway 237 and El Camino Real. The incident allegedly stemmed from a road-rage encounter that had happened previously at Highway 85 and the exit to West El Camino Real. The suspect and victim did not know each other, police said.

The suspect was located at the 500 block of View Street, but fled from police twice, leading officers to use a taser on him. The suspect was then apprehended and charged with brandishing a weapon in public and resisting arrest, police said.

Suspect sought after attempted carjacking

On Tuesday, March 26, Mountain View police received a report of an attempted carjacking around 6 p.m. at 250 Del Medio Ave. A woman had been sitting in her car when a man allegedly pointed a handgun at her and demanded that she give him her car keys. The woman refused and fled her vehicle, police said.

The suspect also left the scene, without taking the victim’s car. Police searched for the suspect, but did not find him. The victim described the suspect as an adult man, 5’10” tall and between the age of 20 and 25. He was wearing black pants and a black shirt with white writing on the back. The case is still being investigated, police said.
