A 23-year-old woman was killed and four others were injured in a serious crash in Bridgeport on Sunday night.

At 9:54 p.m., police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a serious collision near Seaview and Stratford Avenues where two women were unresponsive, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.

Officers arrived on the scene and found the driver of a black 2017 Ford Focus, a 23-year-old woman, unresponsive and called for medics and firefighters to expedite their response to the scene, police said.

When firefighters arrived, they extracted the woman and three passengers from the car, according to police.

Paramedics removed another unresponsive woman from the driver’s seat of the second vehicle, a blue 2008 Audi A4, police said. They were all taken to Bridgeport Hospital Medical Center for treatment, according to police.

The woman driving the Ford died at the hospital less than an hour later, police said.

The Bridgeport Serious Crash Team reconstructed the crash and found that the Ford was traveling south on Seaview Avenue when the driver tried to drive through the intersection with Connecticut Avenue and was struck by the Audi driven by a 33-year-old woman, according to police.

The Audi driver was listed in stable condition as of Monday morning, police said.

The passengers in the Ford included a 39-year-old woman, who was listed in stable condition, and an 18-year-old woman and 13-year-old girl with minor injuries, according to police.

“The Bridgeport Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family,” the department said in a statement Monday.

The Bridgeport Police Department’s Serious Crash Team was still investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bridgeport Officer Andre Orum from the traffic division at 475-422- 6612 or by email at Andrew.Orum@bridgeportct.gov.
