Successful path for business relocations
Subsidies for entrepreneurs secure existing jobs and create new ones. In the district of Mattersburg, 24 projects were approved by the state last year - with a total volume of 38.7 million euros.
30 years ago, hairdresser Elke Plank took the plunge into self-employment and opened a salon in Schattendorf. The anniversary was marked by a visit from Provincial Councillor Leonhard Schneemann and Mayor Thomas Hoffmann.
They also took stock of the support measures for entrepreneurs provided by the state and the business agency in the district of Mattersburg. A total of 24 projects were approved in the previous year 2023, with a total volume of 38.7 million euros. The subsidy amounted to 4.55 million euros. "This not only secured 225 jobs, but also created 58 new jobs," explains Schneemann.
51 applications submitted
The focus was on trade/industry. However, projects were also approved in tourism and in the area of training and further education. A total of 51 applications were submitted. "Although not all of them were approved, this high number illustrates the great interest and potential of our region," says Hoffmann, who is also the SPÖ district chairman.
In addition to congratulations on her company anniversary, Elke Plank also received a cake and a bouquet of flowers. "The step into self-employment was courageous at the time and still is today," praised Schneemann and Hoffmann.
